The 2011 Monster Energy Supercross series, an FIM World Championship, heads into Indianapolis this Saturday night. And the chase for the championship is heating up.
Monster Energy Kawasaki's Ryan Villopoto took the win at Daytona, extending his 2011 series points lead to 23 over San Manuel Yamaha's James Stewart. Owner/Rider Chad Reed of Two-Two Motorsports has caught fire the last few weeks and is only one point behind Stewart. Reigning Champion Ryan Dungey has yet to win, but continues to keep his Yoshimura powered Rockstar/Makita Suzuki RMZ-450 consistently inside the top five. American Honda's Supercross class rookie sensation Trey Canard had a tough week in Daytona, getting together with Hart and Huntington's Ivan Tedesco and, after charging back through the pack, went down with Brett Metcalfe when the latter cross-rutted and crashed right in front of him. Nevertheless, Trey remains fifth in points.
